The Sustain Fund Programme 2025

The Black Feminist Fund is accepting applications for the $200,000 Sustain Fund Programme which provides core, long-term, flexible grants to groups and organizations that work to build collective power, claim justice, and create alternatives.

.

The purpose of the Black Feminist Fund is to significantly increase the resources available to Black feminist movements. When Black feminist groups have the resources they deserve, they are strengthened to transform societies. Moving resources over the long term to Black feminist movements unlocks the power and potential of this change. They make grants to Black feminist groups that have bold visions, are using innovative strategies and taking daring action towards self-determination, justice, solidarity and equity.

.

They support groups that are constituency-led. They aim to put resources in the hands of activists who are advancing their own rights and building their own movements for social change.

.

Principles
  • The grantmaking is based on a set of principles that are rooted in Black feminisms:
    • Trust based
    • Participatory
    • Community-led
    • Context responsive
    • Movement accountable
    • Cooperation not competition
    • The last first
    • Creating bold, welcoming and accessible spaces
    • Making new rules and models to value Black women and gender expansive people
Funding Information
  • Grants are for between USD 50,000 and USD 200,000 per year.
Eligibility Criteria
  • The Black Feminist Fund provides funding and accompaniment to Black feminist groups in the Caribbean, South and Central America, Africa, the Middle East and North America and Europe.
  • The Black Feminist Fund resources registered and non-registered groups that are at the forefront of Black feminist resistance, who are building Black feminist joy, creativity, alternatives and futures, and who strengthen the Black feminist movement architecture and infrastructure in their communities and transnationally.
  • The Sustain Fund is core, flexible funding. This means that if your group is accepted, they fund your group and your proposed activities in furtherance of your strategy and proposed charitable and educational activities.
