Call for Proposals: Responsible Parties to Scale up Institutional Response VAWG in South Africa and Lesotho

The UN Women now invites proposals for The $70,000 Responsible Parties to Scale up Institutional Response Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the United Nations Charter, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

Aims
  • The programme aims to achieve the following outcomes:
    • Global normative frameworks, and gender-responsive laws policies and institutions are supported to promote equal rights and opportunities for all genders
    • Favourable social norms, attitudes and behaviours are promoted at institutional community and individual levels to prevent and address Gender Based Violence and Femicide
Funding Information
  • Min. 20,000 USD – Max.  70,000 USD over the course of one year.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Women-led and women’s rights organizations, including civil society, that are legally registered in Lesotho and South Africa, that have specialised knowledge, expertise and track record of working in EVAWG and gender equality. This includes but is not limited to non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations and advocacy networks (at national or sub-national level). 
  • Youth led and Youth focused organizations that are legally registered in South Africa and Lesotho and have specialized knowledge, expertise and track record of working on youth and girls’ rights, focusing on GBVF and HIV.
  • Organizations working in marginalized and hard to reach areas in line with LNOB-principle
  • National civil society organizations that are legally registered in South Africa and Lesotho, have presence in the focused districts and have a strong track record of programming on EVAWG, human rights and gender equality and women’s empowerment
