State Capture and Beyond Project Grant Program in South Africa

The Legal Resources Centre (LRC) is pleased to invite civil society organisations (CSOs) to apply for the R444,000 State Capture and Beyond Project Grant Program.

This campaign aims to empower citizens, civil society organisations, and private and governmental institutions to actively engage in the fight against corruption.

Objective
  • The overall objective of the award is to empower CSOs to effectively engage in anti-corruption activities, foster dialogue, and collaborate with other stakeholders in the fight against corruption.
  • The specific objectives of the award include empowering CSOs to:
    • Raise awareness about corruption, its roots and its effects.
    • Empower local communities to hold their public officials accountable.
    • Enhance citizen participation in governance.
    • Work with government agencies and institutions to promote transparency.
    • Foster collaboration with other CSOs working in the anti-corruption space.
    • Embed anti-corruption initiatives within the community, ensuring their continued relevance and support.
    • Continue their anti-corruption work beyond the grant period.

Funding Information
  • While the maximum grant amount is R444 000, the final allocation will be determined based on the organisation’s proposed project scope and budget.
Duration
  • Project period: 10 months

Eligibility:

  • To assess your organisation’s eligibility for the award, please refer to the following guidelines:
    • The applicant must be a recognised civil society organisation that has existed for at least two years.
    • The applicant must be tax compliant.
    • The applicant organisation’s mission and values must align with the award’s objectives.
    • The applicant must have a strong, established presence within the target community.
    • The applicant must have prior experience working in the anti-corruption space.
    • The applicant must have or must be able to obtain the human resources required to implement the proposed project.
    • The applicant must support/represent key minority/vulnerable groups (priority will be given to women-led and youth-led organisations).
    • The applicant must have a bank account that is at least a year old.
    • The applicant must be located or working in an area that would benefit from an anti-corruption campaign.
